Job summary

Schneider Electric in Dallas is seeking a Project Engineer focused on Building Automation Systems (BAS) to coordinate design, commissioning and field activities. You will work with project managers and subcontractors to ensure on-time delivery and system performance.

This role emphasizes communication with customers, safety, and hands-on troubleshooting of hardware and software, including commissioning and remote connectivity setup.

Project Engineer – Building Automation System (BAS)

Schneider Electric is searching for a Project Engineer specializing in Building Automation System (BAS) to join our Digital Buildings organization based in Dallas. This role focuses on project coordination, safety, software checkout, commissioning, software troubleshooting, and ensuring daily site activities are completed.

You will develop technical and leadership skills while advancing the Schneider Electric brand.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring all design engineer activity is aligned with the latest conformed construction documents prior to installation.
  • Modifying and updating design drawings and maintaining red line documents.
  • Collaborating with the project manager and procurement personnel on purchasing activity and monitoring budget risks.
  • Ensuring materials are delivered to the site or subcontractors for installation.
  • Validating that hardware and project installation meet design requirements.
  • Diagnosing communication problems, troubleshooting, and tracking software and hardware issues.
  • Participating in field quality control or safety audits and reviewing analysis and results.
  • Coordinating with on‑site contractors for installation based on shop drawings.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for subcontractors during the installation phase.
  • Coordinating and addressing issues during installation independently.
  • Collaborating with the Project Manager to coordinate projects through the installation phase and providing feedback for manpower requirements.
  • Contributing to a complete operation to service turnover process.
  • Responsibility for overall system functionality/performance.
  • Setup of outside ISP connections and remote connectivity to customer sites.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Re‑commissioning devices, equipment, and software as required.
  • Assisting the PM in material procurement.
  • Ensuring installation tracking sheets are updated regularly.
  • Preparing customer‑training manuals and providing customized training.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years’ experience as a Systems Application Engineer with related industry knowledge.
  • Demonstrated communication skills for interfacing directly with customers and other trades.
  • Experience with HVAC and security installations.
  • Proficiency in all types of building systems and application of our technology.
  • Proven experience coordinating project team activities on site, including coordination with other trades, commissioning agents, and customers.

Reporting

This position reports directly to the Construction Manager.
