Job summary

DeBra-Kuempel is seeking a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Estimator in Lexington, KY. The role prepares accurate, competitive bids for BAS installations, retrofits, and upgrades, interpreting plans and customer requirements to develop comprehensive proposals.

You will support business development by maintaining relationships with contractors, engineers, and partners. The ideal candidate combines BAS/HVAC knowledge with strong analytical and communication skills to drive project success from

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or technical equivalent in a related field.
• 2 years of estimating experience in BAS, HVAC controls, DDC, or smart buildings.
• Certifications in Niagara, Tridium, Siemens, Johnson Controls, or Honeywell are a plus.
• Experience estimating for healthcare, data centers, higher education, or energy contracts.
• Familiarity with LEED, FDD, cybersecurity for BAS, and remote/cloud systems.
• Field experience in BAS installation, commissioning, or service is helpful.
• Knowledge of prevailing wage and public bidding processes.
• Strong understanding of BAS platforms and protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LON).

Responsibilities

• Review project documents to determine scope and requirements.
• Perform detailed take-offs for BAS components and hours.
• Develop BOM, labor estimates, subs quotes, overhead/profit margins.
• Estimate costs for plan & spec, design-build, and performance contracts.
• Support bid lifecycle with proposals and pricing narratives.
