Job summary

ControlsJobs is seeking a BAS Controls Specialist for the New York City metro area. The role is field-based, based out of Lyndhurst, NJ, with work concentrated in NYC and limited travel to North Jersey.

Responsibilities include commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining BAS/DDC systems, managing service contracts, and providing customer-facing support. Overtime is available and paid, with a 401(k) plan and equity through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

Qualifications

• 2–10 years of Building Automation or DDC experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.
• Experience with Schneider, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or Tridium.
• Able to work independently across diverse commercial environments.

• Perform scheduled maintenance and system diagnostics.
• Assist with backups, controller setup, and documentation updates.
• Optional: Assist with DDC programming (block or script-based).
• Perform 3rd-party integrations via BACnet, Modbus, LON, and other protocols.

About the Opportunity:

A Tier-1 Technology & Integration firm is hiring multiple BAS Controls Specialists to support rapid growth across the five boroughs of New York City. This field-based position is ideal for technicians who enjoy a mix of service, commissioning, and controls troubleshooting. Work is concentrated in NYC with limited travel to North Jersey.

• Title: BAS Controls Specialist
• Location: NYC Metro (role based out of Lyndhurst, NJ office)
• Status: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

• Commission, troubleshoot, and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC)
• Manage assigned service contracts and provide customer-facing support
• Diagnose and repair BMS/DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, and networks
