Job summary

Job description

Position Summary

The Mill/Barwell operator is responsible for processing parts and materials to the standards and requirements of each job. Work in milling/barwell material processing operations such as Milling Sleeve molding Prep, Barwell set up and preform cutting for sleeve molding as required. Operate cold feed extruder and small mill as required. Be a contributing member of an efficient team.

Responsibilities
Rubber Prep Operation
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment.
  • Must be fully trained in Mill rescue
  • Mill various types of rubber components for the molding department.
  • Report any processing problems to Quality Manager or Supervisor immediately
  • Complete Barwell Set ups as per work instructions.
  • Extrude prep and complete weight verifications as per specification in work instructions.
  • Use forklift to access materials from warehouse.
  • Maintain compound number identify through all phases of the manufacturing process.
  • Supply prepped rubber to the molding department. Maintain zero down time to no materials.
  • Report all scrap material to QC.
  • Correct or report all discrepancies or changes in work instructions to the QC Manager or supervisor.
  • Monitor tooling conditions and report wear/damage to Maintenance Department as required.
  • Correct or report any safety hazards to supervisor.
  • Must be able to use computer to access work instructions.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Team Member Responsibilities
  • Work effectively with all team members to provide a continuous flow of product throughout the production system.
  • Perform all assigned tasks to the best of your ability to become a valuable contributing member of the team.
  • Work with the team to schedule your vacation, only one person can be on vacation at the same time.

  • The person in this position usually spends approximately 60% of their time standing, 10% walking and 30% bending or crouching/stretching.
Education and Experience
  • 1 year of manufacturing experience required.

  • Previous material handling experience preferred.

  • Pay Range: $19.04/hr to $21.02/hr
