Job Summary
Responsible for all aspects of the bar ranging from preparation to service. Ensures that supplies and stock are at sufficient levels to accommodate business demands during the shift. Provides guidance to the Apprentice Bartender as well as mixing and serving drinks to customers during the shift. Accounts for all stock and supplies used.
How You Will Create the Extraordinary
- Prepares ordered drinks with proper portions and ingredients such as wine, liquor, and related bar service to guests at assigned stations.
- Mixes drinks according to prescribed recipes; keeps station stocked with all liquor, glasses, and accessories necessary; accounts for all beginning cash register bank, all cash, complimentary drinks, and charge receipts.
- Operates a cash register, rings the proper amount into the register and gives the guest or server the correct change.
- Possesses a keen sense of timing and is capable of discreetly speeding up or slowing down his/her station as necessary.
- Resourceful with beverages, fruit, and supplies to maintain low beverage costs.
- Sets up service items at the assigned bar.
- Inventories supplies at the bar at the beginning of the shift and requisitions additional items as indicated by bar standards.
- Cleans any spillage at the bar throughout the shift.
- Takes and serves cocktail orders.
- Accepts payment for cocktails as required.
- Counts down register drawers and completes summaries.
- Logs stock used during the shift.
- Maintains the appropriate appearance of the bar in accordance with county health and department standards.
- Ensures that all service items and stock are prepared for the shift.
- Remains attentive to the needs and requests of the customers.
- Treats customers with courtesy and respect.
- Follows all applicable safety procedures.
- Is at all times appropriately groomed and wears the uniform provided.
- Performs additional related duties as requested.
What You Will Need
- 1 year prior bartending experience.
- Completed union apprenticeship program (possess union Pour Card).
- Knowledge of beverages, glassware, and garnishes.
- Effective communication in English, both verbal and written, in a professional manner.
- Neat and professional appearance.
- Ability to interact with customers, the public, and co-workers.
- Ability to accurately count money and provide change.
- Schedule flexibility which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Completion of specialized bartending school preferred.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
- Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform reaching and stooping motions repeatedly.
- Visual ability needed to accurately measure ingredients for mixing drinks.
- Fast paced, high volume environment involving constant public interaction.
- Requires standing, walking, and lifting a minimum of 20lbs repeatedly.
- Shifts may vary based on business needs.
- Must be able to handle intoxicated guests in a professional manner.
- Must be able to tolerate secondary tobacco smoke.
