Job summary

Pyramid Global Hospitality is seeking a full-time Bartender/Server for The Quadrangle Club at the University of Chicago. This dual role involves bartending and serving across restaurant, lounge, and portable bars within the facility.

Ideal candidates have three years of bartending and two years of server experience, with strong knowledge of liquor, beer, wine, and mixology, and excellent customer service. Compensation is $20 per hour with equal opportunity employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and be knowledgeable of standard drinks and liquors/wines
• Plan and maintain par levels for bar inventory; process daily orders
• Handle cash and bank procedures per Accounting
• Learn and use suggestive selling techniques during service
• Expedite food orders and ensure accuracy and presentation
• Monitor food quality and service levels
• Prepare dining room & lounge for service
• Process guest checks and billing via Quad POS
• Maintain cleanliness of all work areas
• Greet guests and deliver cocktails/food to tables

About Our Property

The Quadrangle Club is the faculty and social club of the University of Chicago. Established in 1893, the Quadrangle Club has played and continues to be an important role in the intellectual fabric and life of the University of Chicago. Over the decades, the Club has been a place where Nobel laureates, faculty and numerous other scholars have hosted discussions about topics and ideas that have shaped the world. The Club is housed in a historic facility designed by Howard Van Doren Shaw.

Basic Function

What you will have an opportunity to do: This is a full time position that is a dual position that will work some days as a Bartender, and some days as a Server in our restaurant, lounge and portable bars throughout the facility.

Essential Functions

• Compose and be knowledgeable of standard drinks and liquors/wines specific to restaurant bar.
• Plan and maintain par levels for bar inventory. Prepare daily orders for bar items to maintain pars. Perform bar inventory.
• Responsible for cash handling and bank procedures as outlined by the Accounting Department.
• Responsible for learning suggestive selling techniques and using them during services.
• Expedite food orders, checking for accuracy and presentation.
• Monitor and critique food quality and service levels.
• Check daily boards for team side work assignments and special instructions.
• Pick up reservations.
• Prepare dining room & lounge tables for service.
• Processing guests checks and billing through the Quad POS system.
• Maintain cleanliness of all workplace areas.

Marginal Functions

• Respond to tasks as assigned by manager or captain.
• Greet guests as they enter restaurant.
• Deliver cocktails, and food to tables.
• Assist in other Food and Beverage areas as requested by manager or captain.
