The Bartender is responsible for preparing food and drink orders, serving beverages and meals to patrons as regulated by state and federal age requirements, and coordinating lounge/bar activities.
Qualifications
- Three to six months related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Alcohol Awareness Certification (must comply with State regulations).
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Problem-solving skills; develops alternative solutions and uses reason, even with emotional topics.
- Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations, responding promptly to customer needs.
- Maintains professionalism; treats others with respect regardless of their status.
- Knowledge of and ability to follow policies and procedures.
- Adheres to safety and security procedures; reports unsafe conditions; uses equipment properly.
- Communicates ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Reliable attendance; punctuality; flexibility to work outside scheduled hours as needed.
Responsibilities
- Verifies customer age for alcohol purchase by checking IDs.
- Present menus, answer questions, and take food and beverage orders.
- Prepare drink orders including wine, liquor, and beer.
- Prepare appetizers and food items per recipes and standards.
- Monitor seating in lounge/bar ensuring all guests are served.
- Calculate bills, accept payments, and manage sales receipts.
- Limit problems related to excessive drinking by discontinuing alcohol service and notifying management.
- Clean bars, work areas, tables, glasses, utensils, and equipment.
- Maintain tidy kitchen and lounge stations; restock supplies.
- Organize and control lounge/bar operations.
- Slice and pit fruit for garnishes.
- Arrange bottles and glasses attractively.
- Create new drink recipes.
- Inventory liquor, food, supplies weekly; reorder as needed.
- Maintain temperature and waste logs daily.
- Ensure quality and quantity of food and supplies meet standards.
- Report tips properly for tax purposes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
