The Bartender is responsible for preparing food and drink orders, serving beverages and meals to patrons as regulated by state and federal age requirements, and coordinating lounge/bar activities.
Qualifications
- Three to six months related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Alcohol Awareness Certification (must comply with State regulations).
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; develop alternative solutions and use reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
- Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations; respond promptly to customer needs and requests.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism; treat others with respect and consideration.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures.
- Adhere to safety and security procedures; report unsafe conditions; use equipment properly.
- Communicate ideas and information clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Meet work schedule demands; punctuality; flexibility to work outside regular hours as needed.
Responsibilities
- Verify age of customers purchasing alcohol.
- Present menus, answer questions, and take food and beverage orders.
- Prepare drink orders including wine, liquor, and beer.
- Prepare appetizers and food items according to recipes and standards.
- Monitor seating in lounge/bar, ensuring all guests are served.
- Calculate bills, accept payments, and reconcile sales receipts.
- Limit problems related to excessive drinking, including discontinuing alcohol service when necessary.
- Clean bars, work areas, glasses, utensils, and equipment.
- Maintain tidy and stocked kitchen and lounge stations.
- Organize and control lounge/bar operations.
- Prepare garnishes and create attractive displays of bottles and glasses.
- Invent and manage drink recipes.
- Conduct weekly inventories of liquor, food, supplies, and equipment; reorder supplies as needed.
- Maintain daily logs for temperature and waste.
- Ensure quality and safety standards for food and supplies.
- Report tips properly for tax purposes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Access to back of house areas and sensitive information, with proper security measures.
- Handle cash, prepare deposits, and secure bank transactions.
- Interact with guests and colleagues, sometimes unsupervised.
- Control access to sensitive hotel areas, including master keys, guest rooms, storage, and liquor rooms.
- Maintain trust, responsibility, and exercise sound judgment to represent the company well.
