Bartender – World Cup Games – Intrepid Museum

FLSA STATUS: Part Time Seasonal Hourly/Temporary Assignment. LOCATION: Intrepid Museum Pier 86.

Essential Functions

• Set up and service individual beverage locations.
• Properly handle cash.
• Enforce all liquor laws.
• Verify and account for all liquor inventory.
• Maintain proper sanitation of work area.
• Responsible for stocking bar items daily and filling the ice bins as needed.
• Anticipate needs throughout the shift.
• Keep all areas clean and organized.
• Report timely to work and prepared to start at the starting time.
• Know your work area and set up as directed.
• Ensure prompt, quality service is provided.
• Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time.
• Follow proper safety practices in the work area.
• Provide pleasant and efficient service to customers.
• Prepare all beverage items for sale in the station and sell to customers, charging amount indicated on price list.
• Perform duties with a sense of urgency and in a professional manner.
• Receive and handle cash and credit cards.
• Accurately verify all cash and liquor inventory with supervisor.
• Verify cash register is programmed properly.
• Follow all rules and regulations which apply to the beverage operations and to Legends Global Food and Beverage Division.
• Request identification for every guest purchasing alcohol.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

• Must have a pleasant personality and a neat appearance.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions including extreme heat.
• Must have attention to detail.
• Must have strong customer service skills.
• Must be TIPS, LEAD or TEAMS Certified.
• Must have basic working knowledge of cash register and cash handling procedures.
• Must have sufficient math ability to accurately count and handle money.
• Must have basic working knowledge of bar operation.
• Must have ability to follow directions and effectively perform the work.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Must be able to interact with co-workers to assure compliance with company service standards.
• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
• Must be able to multitask in a fast paced, team orientated setting.
• Must be able to read, speak and write English.
• Must be able to lift and transport items weighing 10–30 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work all events including extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have sufficient mobility to perform assigned production tasks.
• Must have at least 1 year of work experience in a fast‑paced bar, high‑end club, or restaurant.

Compensation

$17.00 per hour plus tips/gratuities.

Working Conditions

Location: Outdoors on Pier 86, One Intrepid Square, 12th Avenue and West 46th Street, New York, NY 10036.

Physical Demands

This position requires regular movement around the facility, standing for long hours during events; may require work inside or outside the building as needed. The employee may need to lift or move at least 50 lbs, stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions, including work in all weather conditions and extreme heat.
