Job summary

Palms Casino Resort is seeking a bartender to prepare and serve beverages, maintain the bar, and provide exceptional guest service in a resort environment.

You will handle cash, manage bar inventory, and train junior staff while ensuring compliance with gaming and health regulations. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required.

Qualifications

  • 21+ years old required.
  • Nevada Gaming Registration required.
  • TAM card required.
  • Health Card required.
  • Bartender 165 Union Pour Card required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of bar experience.
  • Experience in a resort setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of drinks, wine, and garnishes.

Responsibilities

  • Make and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to recipes.
  • Clean equipment and maintain bar sanitation and appearance.
  • Know menu items, brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections.
  • Handle cash, ring pours, and submit daily reports and paperwork.
  • Train and mentor Apprentice Bartender and Bar Porter.
  • Maintain bar inventory and pars; request stock as needed.
  • Resolve guest complaints within authority; escalate as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.

Job description

As a Bartender, you will be responsible for being knowledgeable of menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections as well as maintaining the appearance of the bar.

Core Job Responsibilities:
  • Make and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, proportioning ingredients according to standardized recipes and provide food service as needed
  • Clean equipment, tools, and supplies and ensure equipment is in good working order; including, cleanliness, sanitation and appearance of the bar
  • Knowledgeable of menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available
  • Ring poured or served beverages, collect payment, and follow all cash handling and variance procedures, including preparing daily reports and submitting appropriate paperwork
  • Provide Apprentice Bartender and Bar Porter with training and mentoring on overall function of the bar, guest service and bartending
  • Maintain bar inventory according to set pars and internal controls, and request product to maintain stock in bar
  • Resolve guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refer the matter to management, notify supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested
Qualifications
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Ability to secure and maintain a Nevada Gaming Registration
  • Must obtain a TAM card
  • Must obtain a Health Card
  • Must have a Bartender 165 Union Pour Card
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience in a bar or similar environment
  • Experience working in a similar resort setting
  • Knowledgeable of menu items, including mixture and serving beverages, standard beverage recipes, preparation methods, glassware, garnishes, products, menu items, supplies and equipment
  • Knowledgeable of wine and champagne characteristics by the glass, major wines, designated glassware, terminology, and garnishes
  • Able to take initiative and exhibit flexibility
  • Highly motivated and energetic personality
  • Knowledge of hotel services, features, local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately
  • Excellent customer service skills as well as interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
  • Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays
Physical Demands:

Work is performed in a hotel/resort setting.

  • Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.
  • May be exposed to smoke
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Constant contact with executives, department management, employees, and guests.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility.
  • Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Eye/hand coordination.
  • Use of standard office equipment.
  • Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols
  • May be required to work evening, weekends, and holiday shifts.
