Job summary

Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas seeks a Bar Apprentice/Porter responsible for stocking glassware, condiments, beer and paper products across beverage outlets while delivering exceptional guest service that reflects Palms brand standards.

You'll manage inventory, assist with bar setup and breakdown, maintain clean bar areas, complete transfers and deliveries paperwork, and work flexible evenings, weekends, and holidays to ensure smooth operation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a resort or hotel food and beverage environment.
  • Must obtain TAM/Alcohol Awareness Card.
  • Must obtain a SNHD Health Card.
  • Must obtain a Nevada Gaming License.
  • Minimum age 21.
  • Prior experience in a similar resort setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Stock and serve assigned beverage outlets.
  • Maintain inventory levels and handle deliveries.
  • Keep beverage areas clean and sanitary.
  • Complete required paperwork including bar transfers and dry stock deliveries.
  • Maintain pars of liquor, beer, and supplies and reorder as needed.
  • Set up and breakdown portable bars in designated areas.
  • Route deliveries via correct freight elevators to designated hotel areas.
  • Resolve guest complaints within authority or escalate to management.

Job description

It is the responsibility of the Bar Apprentice/Porter to stock all glassware, condiments, beer, paper products and other necessary items needed for efficient operation within beverage outlets while performing excellent guest service. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard.

Core Job Responsibilities:
  • Stock and serve assigned beverage outlets
  • Maintain assigned levels of inventory, including delivery and stock of glassware, condiments, packaged beverages, paper products, and other necessary items
  • Maintain cleanliness of beverage areas including all related assigned bar equipment, tools, supplies, trash removal, deep cleaning, sanitation and work area, to include cleaning refrigerators, countertops, and mopping floors
  • Complete required paperwork including bar transfers and dry stock deliveries
  • Maintain pars of liquor, beer, and supplies in cooler and dry storage area, order as needed
  • Responsible for set-up and breakdown of portable bars in designated areas
  • Ensure use of correct freight elevators and delivery routes to designated hotel areas and beverage outlets
  • Organize and maintain beverage pump room areas, including pump room products, storage rooms, and warehouses, and identify non-stock items and alert management as necessary
  • Resolve guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise, refer the matter to management, notify supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft

  • Must have great people skills, a clean and well-groomed appearance, and to be respectful of everyone.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.
  • May be exposed to smoke.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Constant contact with executives, department management, employees, and guests.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility.
  • Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions
  • Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Eye/hand coordination.
  • Use of standard office equipment.
  • Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Will be required to work evening, weekends, and holiday shifts.
