Job summary

Fairmont New Orleans in the Central Business District is seeking a polished Lobby Lounge Bartender to join our luxury team. You will prepare cocktails, wine, beer, coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages while delivering an engaging guest experience in the Lobby Lounge.

The role requires knowledge of cocktails and spirits, the ability to suggest pairings, maintain service standards, and work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Previous bartending experience preferred.
• Luxury hospitality experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.

Job Description

The Lobby Lounge Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages while maintaining an engaging and professional guest experience. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, personable, polished, and passionate about beverage culture and luxury hospitality.

Responsibilities:

• Provide warm, professional, engaging, and personalized beverage service
• Welcome guests, acknowledge them promptly, and anticipate their needs throughout their visit
• Maintain complete knowledge of all Lobby Lounge beverage and food offerings
• Prepare cocktails and beverages according to established recipes, specifications, and presentation standards
• Demonstrate knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine, champagne, beer, coffee, tea, and non-alcoholic beverages
• Maintain knowledge of wine and champagne offerings, including varietals, regions, characteristics, and appropriate pairings
• Assist guests with beverage selections and provide thoughtful recommendations based on preferences
• Maintain knowledge of food offerings to provide appropriate food and beverage pairing recommendations
• Prepare and present beverages with attention to quality, consistency, presentation, and timing.
• Open and properly serve wine and champagne when required
• Maintain knowledge of glassware, ingredients, garnishes, preparation techniques, and presentation standards
• Follow all applicable Louisiana alcohol laws and responsible beverage service requirements
• Monitor guest consumption and exercise appropriate judgment regarding alcohol service
• Accurately process guest checks and payments in accordance with hotel procedures
• Maintain proper cash-handling and credit-card procedures
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the bar and lounge throughout service
• Communicate effectively with Servers, Barbacks, Culinary, Stewarding, and leadership
• Assist with VIP experiences, special occasions, hotel events, and private functions as assigned
• Maintain knowledge of Fairmont New Orleans amenities, outlets, events, local attractions, and services
• Resolve guest concerns professionally and involve leadership when appropriate
• Participate in pre-shift meetings, beverage tastings, training, and departmental meetings
• Assist with opening and closing duties, inventory, stocking, cleaning, and side work
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, and workplace safety procedures
• Maintain a polished appearance consistent with Fairmont New Orleans standards
• Uphold Fairmont's luxury hospitality standards and New Orleans sense of place
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous bartending experience preferred
• Luxury hotel, upscale restaurant, cocktail bar, or lounge experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages
• Knowledge of New Orleans cocktail and beverage culture is an asset
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent guest service and relationship-building abilities
• Previous cash-handling and POS experience preferred
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to remain polished and composed in a fast-paced environment
• Alcohol awareness certification preferred
• Food safety certification required or ability to obtain
• Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Must meet applicable Louisiana requirements for alcohol service
