Job summary

Fairmont New Orleans is seeking a Lobby Lounge Bartender to provide warm, personalized beverage service while knowledgeably presenting cocktails, wines, and non-alcoholic offerings. You will engage guests, maintain bar knowledge, and ensure consistent, high-quality presentation in a luxury hotel setting.

Responsibilities include precise beverage preparation, wine service, adherence to Louisiana laws, and collaboration with multiple departments to ensure guest satisfaction and seamless service.

Qualifications

• Previous bartending experience preferred.
• Luxury hotel, upscale restaurant, cocktail bar, or lounge experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.
• Knowledge of New Orleans cocktail and beverage culture is an asset.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent guest service and relationship-building abilities.
• Previous cash-handling and POS experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to remain polished and composed in a fast-paced environment.
• Alcohol awareness certification preferred.
• Food safety certification required or ability to obtain.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must meet applicable Louisiana requirements for alcohol service.

Responsibilities

• Provide warm, professional, engaging, and personalized beverage service.
• Welcome guests, acknowledge them promptly, and anticipate their needs throughout their visit.
• Maintain complete knowledge of Lobby Lounge beverage and food offerings.
• Prepare cocktails and beverages according to established recipes, specifications, and presentation standards.
• Demonstrate knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine, champagne, beer, coffee, tea, and non-alcoholic beverages.
• Assist guests with beverage selections and provide thoughtful recommendations based on preferences.
• Maintain knowledge of food offerings to provide appropriate food and beverage pairing recommendations.
• Prepare and present beverages with attention to quality, consistency, presentation, and timing.
• Open and properly serve wine and champagne when required.
• Maintain knowledge of glassware, ingredients, garnishes, preparation techniques, and presentation standards.
• Follow all applicable Louisiana alcohol laws and responsible beverage service requirements.
• Monitor guest consumption and exercise appropriate judgment regarding alcohol service.
• Accurately process guest checks and payments in accordance with hotel procedures.
• Maintain proper cash-handling and credit-card procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the bar and lounge throughout service.
• Communicate effectively with Servers, Barbacks, Culinary, Stewarding, and leadership.
• Assist with VIP experiences, special occasions, hotel events, and private functions as assigned.
• Maintain knowledge of Fairmont New Orleans amenities, outlets, events, local attractions, and services.
• Resolve guest concerns professionally and involve leadership when appropriate.
• Participate in pre-shift meetings, beverage tastings, training, and departmental meetings.
• Assist with opening and closing duties, inventory, stocking, cleaning, and side work.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, and workplace safety procedures.
• Maintain a polished appearance consistent with Fairmont New Orleans standards.
• Uphold Fairmont's luxury hospitality standards and New Orleans sense of place.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
