Job summary

Recess is opening in Fall 2026 in the historic Manger Building in Savannah, introducing a new hospitality concept with a boutique hotel, club elements, and vibrant public spaces. The Lobby Bar team seeks skilled bartenders to craft elevated cocktails, connect with guests, and contribute to a lively, welcoming atmosphere from morning through evening.

Qualifications

• Previous bartending experience in upscale hotel, cocktail bar, or luxury hospitality.
• Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and service standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, coffee beverages, and non-alcoholic offerings according to recipes.
• Deliver attentive, personalized service to guests at the bar and lounge areas.
• Develop knowledge of the Lobby Bar’s beverage program and hotel amenities.
• Guide guests in beverage selections and make recommendations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked bar during service.
• Enter orders and process transactions using the POS system.
• Monitor responsible alcohol service and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with team to ensure seamless service and guest experience.

About the role

The Lobby Bar at Recess Hotel & Club is seeking skilled, energetic, and hospitality-driven Bartenders to join our team. As one of the property's signature gathering spaces, the Lobby Bar serves as a welcoming destination for hotel guests, club members, and locals alike—offering elevated cocktails, thoughtful service, and a vibrant social atmosphere from morning through evening.

As a Bartender, you will create memorable experiences through expert beverage preparation, genuine guest engagement, and a strong sense of hospitality. The ideal candidate is passionate about cocktails, wine, and service, with the ability to balance efficiency and precision in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining a warm and approachable presence.

What you'll do

• Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, coffee beverages, and non-alcoholic offerings according to established recipes and service standards
• Deliver attentive, personalized service to guests seated at the bar and throughout the lounge area as needed
• Develop a thorough knowledge of the Lobby Bar's beverage program, food offerings, seasonal features, and hotel amenities
• Guide guests through beverage selections and make recommendations based on individual preferences
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout service
• Accurately enter orders and process transactions using the point-of-sale system
• Monitor guest alcohol consumption and ensure responsible alcohol service practices
• Prepare garnishes, syrups, mixers, and other bar ingredients according to established standards
• Perform opening, closing, and side work duties as assigned
• Collaborate with food runners, servers, culinary team members, and leadership to ensure seamless service
• Manage inventory levels and communicate product needs to leadership
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations
• Build relationships with regular guests, club members, and hotel guests while contributing to an inviting and engaging atmosphere
• Serve as an ambassador of the hotel by providing knowledgeable recommendations about property amenities, events, and local experiences

Qualifications

• Previous bartending experience required; upscale hotel, cocktail bar, or luxury hospitality experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and beverage service standards
• Passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Experience with point-of-sale systems and cash handling procedures
• Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move bar supplies as needed
• Professional presentation and grooming standards
• Flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
• Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and operational excellence
