Geno’s Steaks is opening at the Power Plant Hampton Roads dining and entertainment district in Virginia, bringing its Philly cheesesteaks to the area for the first time. The Bartender will join a full-service bar offering beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic options in a family-friendly setting.

The role requires 1–2 years of bartending experience, knowledge of drink components, and the ability to deliver friendly, efficient service.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of bartending at high-volume bars or nightclubs.
• Knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, glassware, preparations and garnishes.
• Fluent English required; other languages a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide an energetic, outgoing, and professional personality.
• Mix ingredients and prepare cocktails and other drinks per recipes.
• Serve wine, beer, and bottled/draft beverages.
• Take beverage orders from staff or guests and ensure accuracy.

Geno’s Steaks is excited to announce that it will open at the Power Plant Hampton Roads dining and entertainment district, bringing its legendary Philly cheesesteaks to Virginia for the first time. The new restaurant, which will be located between PBR Hampton and Bass Pro Shops, is slated to open this winter.

Geno’s prides itself on delivering the finest cheesesteak experience in the world. The family-friendly venue at Power Plant Hampton Roads will feature Geno’s popular menu of crowd-pleasing favorites for lunch and dinner daily, including a variety of cheesesteaks, Italian hoagies and more. Complemented by a full-service bar offering beer, wine, handcrafted cocktails, as well as a variety of soft drinks to suit guests of all ages, the space is designed with fun in mind. The expansive restaurant will feature classic arcade games and interactive experiences perfect for families and groups. Guests can also unwind on Geno’s scenic waterfront patio, complete with incredible views and a relaxed outdoor vibe.

Bartender Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide an energetic, outgoing, fun personality while maintaining professionalism.
• Perform varied duties to ensure all aspects of the proper steps of service.
• Offer polite, professional, and courteous customer service.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and guests.
• Mix ingredients and prepare cocktails and other drinks according to drink recipe.
• Serve wine, and bottled or draft beer.
• Take beverage orders from serving staff or from guests.
• Communicate effectively, clearly, patiently and humorously with co-workers and guests.
• Complete all side work as assigned.
• Be well-versed in the products in order to guide the guest experience and sell food and beverage items.
• Check guests’ identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption.
• Present and encourage current promotions to guests.
• Accurately record and account for all items ordered and secure payment from guest.
• Accurately account for all sales and receipts and record tips as outlined in company policies and procedures.

Bartender Qualifications:

• At least 1-2 years experience with bartending at high volume bars and/or nightclubs.
• Knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, designated glassware, preparation methods and garnishments.
• Formal bartending training preferred.
• Must speak fluent English, other languages preferred.
• Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests, cooks, wait staff, and supervisors.
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
• Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when taking orders, completing paperwork, etc.
• Mathematical skills, including basic math are used frequently.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

The Bartender position requires the ability to perform the following:

• Handling, carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds. (bar ware, boxes, bottles, ect.)
• Moving about the bar, lounge, and kitchen efficiently and safely.
• Handling food, objects, products and utensils effectively and safely.

Compensation for this position is $2.13 per hour plus tips.
