The Role

As the Foundation Room Bartender, you will provide friendly, knowledgeable service while adhering to responsible alcohol practices and venue standards.

What You Need

Required:

• State or County Alcohol Licensing or Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training Certification, or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience bartending in an upscale dining and nightlife establishment
• Ability to upsell and offer food and drink suggestions to guests
• Excellent verbal communication skills and adaptability to diverse audiences
• Exemplary personal grooming standards
• Flexible schedule; ability to work late hours, nights, and weekends
• Cash handling experience
• Strong working knowledge of all beverage categories
• Physical capability to pass a pour test and a timed mixology drill
• Conflict‑resolution skills for dealing with intoxicated guests safely
• Interpersonal communication and teamwork proficiency
• Open to all cultures, music, and art forms

Preferred:

• Experience working in high volume environments
• Experience verifying valid IDs
• Experience in a live music venue setting

Physical Demands / Working Environment

• Fast‑paced, often loud and stressful environment
• Extended periods of prolonged standing and working on your feet
• Ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs. using proper lifting techniques

What You’ll Do

• Greet and acknowledge Foundation Room members, Live Nation Executives, and VIPs with appreciation for their membership and patronage
• Demonstrate impeccable service skills for upscale dining
• Stay current on the latest drink trends and mixology fundamentals
• Provide knowledgeable wine, beer, spirit, and beverage suggestions that complement menu items
• Enforce responsible alcohol service per local ordinance and House of Blues policies
• Request proper identification for guests appearing under 30 years of age
• Maintain a natural, friendly demeanor while interacting with guests
• Cultivate regular guests and repeat business
• Successfully complete a pour test prior to each shift, where applicable
• Suggestively sell beverages and menu items to guests at the bar
• Deliver food items and beverage orders promptly
• Prioritize and organize drink orders efficiently
• Consistently prepare beverages according to standard recipes and venue specifications, adhering to all control systems
• Record any equipment failure and/or safety hazards in the bar log
• Recognize intoxicated guests and refuse further alcohol service courteously and safely
• Maintain House of Blues safety and sanitation standards
• Perform opening, running, and closing duties according to House of Blues policy
• Prepare guest checks on the point‑of‑sale terminal and process payment per policy
• Maintain the bartender bank
• Execute cash pull and check‑out procedures
• Maintain appropriate comp and spill checks
• Attend pre‑shift meeting conducted by the Manager on Duty before each shift
