What This Role Will Do
Guest Relations
- Greet guests promptly and courteously.
- Control the flow of guests entering the restaurant and those waiting for a table.
- Collect guest details (name, party size, description, arrival time, special needs for children).
- Anticipate and respond to guest needs to ensure satisfaction.
- Direct guests to appropriate waiting areas and estimate accurate wait times.
- Lead guests to tables, place the menu, and wait with them until seated.
- Promote current and future shows, menu items, and retail by placing marketing literature on dining tables.
- Answer guest questions about the menu, music hall, and artists performing.
- Manage foundations and industry access lists, dinner reservation sheets, and passes.
- Handle concert tickets, signature sheets, production sheets, and member lists; check foundation membership cards and photo IDs.
- Adhere to the HOB dress code and hospitality zone policies.
- Hand out wristbands or opera box passes.
- Thank guests for visiting and invite them to return.
- Possess knowledge of House of Blues art, music, and history.
Communicate With Other Support Departments
- Communicate with door hosts, kitchen staff, and Foundation Room Managers to ensure proper flow.
- Inform kitchen of large or special‑event parties that have been seated.
Atmosphere (Maintenance/Cleaning)
- Keep the host area clean and organized throughout the shift.
- Maintain the floor free of spills, food, trash, and obstacles.
- Polish and clean all entry door windows.
- Maintain proper par levels for kid menus, crayons, flyers, matches, toothpicks, and calendars at the host stand.
- Control sightlines and atmosphere by circulating through the work area.
- Follow House of Blues safety and sanitation standards.
Assist Other Departments As Needed
- Provide support to other employees and departments (teamwork).
- Adhere to standard operating procedures.
- Attend the pre‑shift meeting conducted by the Manager on Duty.
Required

- Ability to seat guests in a high‑volume restaurant efficiently.
- Flexible hours.
Preferred
- Point‑of‑sale knowledge, preferably MICROS.
- Previous experience handling VIP customers.
- Previous customer service/host experience.
- Skills in interpersonal communication and teamwork.
Physical Demands/Working Environment
- Fast‑paced environment.
- Extended periods of standing and work on feet.
- Capacity to lift or move up to 25 lbs with proper techniques.
