Job description

The Bartender provides exceptional hospitality to all guests. They will deliver pleasant, professional and courteous beverage service; including food service to all patrons in accordance with established procedures. Handle all liquor, wine and beer control in working area.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide prompt and exceptional hospitality to all guests. Always serving guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Take orders and promote the sale of beverages listed on menus, but not limited to the menus; i.e. special promotions, in addition to food service. Must be able to operate P.O.S. computer, make change correctly and make credit card transactions. Verify correct pricing.
  • Ability to effectively card all guests, according to New Hampshire state regulations for acceptable forms of identification.
  • Have complete knowledge of all drinks on menu. Mix and serve all drinks for patrons and service staff consistently, including house- featured drinks using standard recipes. Responsible for maintaining ideal beverage cost.
  • Ability to upsell to premium brands of liquor.
  • Maintain relevant knowledge of all food and beverage menu items, including drinks and liquor brand designations (house, call, premium, cordial, specialty, etc.), types of specialty drinks, domestic versus import beers, appropriate glassware and garnishes, etc.
  • Assist servers in bar knowledge (proper glassware, garnish, etc.) and proper entry of beverage orders into the P.O.S system. No drinks should ever be made without a printed slip.
  • Maintain an organized, safe and clean bar area as well as related service areas. Cleans, sanitizes, restocks and stores bare items according to procedures.
  • Complete opening, ongoing and closing checklist duties daily. Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of relevant cash register procedures as instructed by managers. Consistent adherence to guest check procedures as instructed. Must balance register at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Pick up and deliver food, clear plates and deliver dirty dishes to the dish area.
  • Secures all monies during and at the end of each shift.
  • Observe health code practices.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees and purveyors to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate.
  • Maintains a favorable image of the Company at all times to promote its aims and objectives, and to foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all of its areas of endeavor.
  • Must be able to calmly respond to disgruntled guests and notify a manager.
  • Keep manager informed of all stock and supplies needs in the event that glassware, paper products, etc. are running low.
  • Attends shift meetings according to shift schedule
  • Assists other staff as needed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

• Physically able to lift/move items up to 50 lbs and open/close containers.
• Skilled in using bar tools/equipment (coffee machine, blender).
• Strong memory and ability to record orders and monitor supplies.
• Follows procedures to prevent intoxication and handle intoxicated guests.
• Able to multitask under pressure while maintaining composure.
