Bar Sprezzatura, located in the Heathman Hotel in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a Bartender who can craft exceptional cocktails and provide engaging guest experiences. The role emphasizes storytelling, hospitality, and beverage expertise in a fast-paced, fine-dining environment.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of experience, excellent communication, and a passion for educating guests about drinks. A supportive beverage team and growth opportunities are available within Makeready.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in fine dining or high-volume bar settings.
• Exceptional communication skills and guest interaction.
• Extensive knowledge of beverages, spirits, wine and beer.
• Experience with beverage recipe development and staff education.

Responsibilities

• Craft impeccable cocktails and deliver warm hospitality at the bar.
• Engage guests as a storyteller and host, elevating the guest experience.
• Collaborate with beverage team and front-of-house staff to maintain standards.
• Assist in training and educating team members on drinks and menus.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization, move up to 40 pounds as needed.

About the Role:

At Bar Sprezzatura, the Bartender is more than a drink maker—they are a storyteller, a host, and a craftsperson. Responsible for delivering impeccable cocktails, warm hospitality, and an engaging guest experience, the Bartender embodies our standards of excellence while fostering connection at the bar. This role requires creativity, precision, and a passion for elevating every moment, ensuring each guest feels both welcomed and inspired.

A motivated beverage professional who is organized, friendly, and passionate. You will be an integral part of our beverage team with a passion for educating and enthralling our guests. You have amazing attention to detail, and expansive knowledge of spirits, wine, and beer. You work well as part of a team, work well under pressure and have a strong desire to learn and be a leader among your peers.

What you bring to the table:

• 2-4 years’ experience in a fine dining or casual fine dining high volume bar or restaurant


• Exceptional communication skills


• Expansive food and beverage knowledge


• Experience in beverage recipe development and staff education


• Intellectual curiosity


• Ability to work clean, organized, and as part of a team


• Ability to move and lift 40 pounds at a time


• At least 21 years of age


• Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period of time
