Job summary

Ava Rooftop Bar is hiring a Bartender to provide energetic, professional service at our elevated open-air venue in South Philadelphia. You will mix cocktails, serve wine and beer, handle orders, and promote drink specials, while ensuring precise cash handling and guest engagement.

The role requires 1–2 years of bartending in busy settings, fluent English, and compliance with age and health regulations. Weekend/evening availability is often required.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of bartending at high-volume bars/nightclubs.
• Knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, glassware, prep methods and garnishes.
• Formal bartending training preferred.
• Must meet state age requirements.
• Fluent English; other languages preferred.
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or health/food handler card as required.
• Reading/writing abilities for orders and paperwork.
• Basic math skills for payments and tips.
• May work nights/weekends/holidays.

Elevated above the Sports Complex, AVA Rooftop Bar will introduce a refined open-air experience to Stateside Live! Blending skyline views with a high-energy social atmosphere, AVA will feature craft cocktails, curated entertainment, and a stylish rooftop setting designed for sunset gatherings and late-night celebrations alike. With premium finishes, dynamic DJ programming, and an upscale yet approachable vibe, AVA Rooftop Bar will redefine nightlife in South Philadelphia.

Bartender Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide an energetic, outgoing, fun personality while maintaining professionalism.
• Perform varied duties to ensure all aspects of the proper steps of service.
• Offer polite, professional, and courteous customer service.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and guests.
• Mix ingredients and prepare cocktails and other drinks according to drink recipe.
• Serve wine, and bottled or draft beer.
• Take beverage orders from serving staff or from guests.
• Communicate effectively, clearly, patiently and humorously with co-workers and guests.
• Complete all side work as assigned.
• Be well-versed in the products in order to guide the guest experience and sell food and beverage items.
• Check guests’ identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption.
• Present and encourage current promotions to guests.
• Accurately record and account for all items ordered and secure payment from guest.
• Accurately account for all sales and receipts and record tips as outlined in company policies and procedures.

Bartender Qualifications:

• At least 1-2 years experience with bartending at high volume bars and/or nightclubs.
• Knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, designated glassware, preparation methods and garnishments.
• Formal bartending training preferred.
• Must meet state legal age requirements.
• Must speak fluent English, other languages preferred.
• Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests, cooks, wait staff, and supervisors.
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
• Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when taking orders, completing paperwork, etc.
• Mathematical skills, including basic math are used frequently.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

The Bartender position requires the ability to perform the following:

• Handling, carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds. (bar ware, boxes, bottles, ect.)
• Moving about the bar, lounge, and kitchen efficiently and safely.
