Job Purpose
The Bartender will prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to patrons, oversee the stock of liquor and bar supplies, and collect money for drinks served.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive orders from patrons or waitstaff.
- Prepare and serve liquor, mixed drinks, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic drinks as ordered.
- Ensure that fruit and other garnishes are prepared ahead of the opening of the bar.
- Maintain bar spaces and keep them clean and organized.
- Attractively display glasses, liquor, and other bar items so it’s pleasing for guests to look at.
- Collect payments from guests for drinks prepared and served.
- Ensure that customers are of legal drinking age by checking photo IDs.
- Utilize proper judgment and discretion, when necessary, to refuse service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive.
All Other Duties as Assigned.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of drink preparation and service.
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and presentation skills with a focus on serving customers.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
- Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly and argumentative patrons.
- Ability to learn Point of Sales systems and software.
- Completion of mixology, barkeeping, or other related training required.
- At least one year of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
- Ability to complete orders quickly and accurately.
- Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds at a time.
- Must be at least 18 years or older to serve alcoholic drinks.
