Job summary

SSP America in Sterling, VA is seeking a friendly bartender to join our team. You will handle orders, process payments, and serve beverages and menu items in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment. Maintain a clean work area and help with restocking as needed.

Minimum one year bartending experience with valid certifications is required, plus fluent English and basic math for POS transactions. Experience with a POS system is helpful.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year bartending experience required, including certification by state, federal, or local required training program.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of alcoholic beverages.
• Verbal and written English language ability.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English to communicate with guests and take orders.
• Basic mathematical skills to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count bank, prepare cash drops, total charges, and understand weights and measurements.
• Brand certification as required.
• Ability to operate a keyboard and POS procedures to pre-check, order, and close out a check.
• Ability to work and stand in confined spaces for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Process orders and enter them accurately into the POS system.
• Receive payment from the customer and process change.
• Serve cold, frozen, and hot drinks as well as a wide variety of food items to guests.
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
• Ensure that the work area is clean throughout the day.
• Clean equipment and utensils, remove trash, sweep and mop work area, dust and clean.
