Job summary

SSP America in Sterling, VA is hiring bartenders. The role involves taking orders, processing payments, serving drinks and food, keeping the bar area organized, and ensuring cleanliness throughout the shift. Full-time and part-time positions are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year bartending experience required, with state/federal certifications.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of alcoholic drinks.
• Verbal and written English required.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English to communicate with guests.
• Basic math skills to handle cash, totals, and payments.
• Brand certification as required.
• Ability to operate keyboard and POS to pre-check, order, and close out checks.
• Ability to stand/work in confined spaces for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Process orders and enter them accurately into the POS system.
• Receive payment from the customer and process change.
• Serve cold, frozen, and hot drinks as well as a wide variety of food items to guests.
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
• Ensure that the work area is clean throughout the day.
• Clean equipment and utensils, removes trash, sweep and mop work area, dust and clean.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate For This Position Has

• Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand weights and measurements.
• Brand certification as required.
• Ability to operate a keyboard & point of sale procedures to pre-check and order & close out a check.
• Ability to work and stand in confined spaces for long periods of time.
