REPORTS TO: FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER / FOOD & BEVERAGE DIRECTOR
POSITION SUMMARY
The Bartender is responsible for delivering an exceptional private club experience through professional beverage service, genuine hospitality, and attention to detail. This position creates a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for Members and Guests while maintaining the highest standards of service, professionalism, cleanliness, and responsible alcohol service. Bartenders also support Club functions, banquets, Member events, and special events as part of the Food & Beverage Team and are expected to assist with event setup, service, and breakdown as operational needs require. Bartenders are expected to build positive relationships with Members while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and representing Hideaway Golf Club with pride, integrity, and professionalism.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Setup and break down bar area for service and special events.
- Maintain a well-stocked bar with an adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware, and other service items.
- Wash, slice, pit, and prepare fruit garnishes and beverage accompaniments.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and service standards.
- Demonstrate detailed knowledge of beverage offerings, wines, spirits, specialty cocktails, and Club promotions.
- Make thoughtful beverage recommendations based on Member preferences and requests.
- Anticipate Member needs and provide personalized service without being prompted.
- Take beverage orders and efficiently serve multiple Members and Guests while maintaining service quality standards.
- Carry and serve beverages safely and professionally using proper tray service techniques.
- Review daily reservations, event orders, and function sheets before each shift.
- Input all beverage orders accurately into the Clubessential POS system for Member account charges.
- Maintain a clean, organized, sanitary, and professional work environment.
- Follow all Riverside County food safety regulations and responsible alcohol service requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Club policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Support a safe working environment and immediately report unsafe conditions.
- Communicate effectively with management and fellow Team Members to ensure exceptional Member experiences.
- Greet Members promptly and professionally, utilizing Member names whenever possible and delivering personalized service that enhances the Member experience.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
BANQUET & SPECIAL EVENT SUPPORT
- Support the Banquet and Events Team in the execution of Club functions, Member events, private parties, tournaments, holiday events, and other special events as assigned.
- Assist with event setup and breakdown, including bars, beverage stations, tables, chairs, linens, glassware, serviceware, and other event-related equipment and supplies.
- Provide beverage and food service during banquet functions and special events in accordance with established Club service standards and event specifications.
- Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), function sheets, and other event information as directed to understand event timelines, service requirements, beverage selections, and special Member or Guest requests.
- Work collaboratively with Banquet, Culinary, and Food & Beverage Team Members to ensure seamless event execution and an exceptional Member and Guest experience.
- Assist with resetting, cleaning, organizing, and returning event spaces, equipment, and supplies following Club functions and special events.
- Remain flexible in assigned duties and service areas based on operational and event needs, including providing support outside of regularly assigned restaurant or bar areas.
MEMBER SERVICE AND PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
- Consistently deliver gracious, attentive, and personalized service to Members and Guests.
- Learn and recognize Member names, preferences, and customary beverage selections whenever possible.
- Maintain a polished, professional, and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Build positive relationships with Members while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Avoid overly familiar, inappropriate, or unprofessional interactions while on duty.

BEVERAGE KNOWLEDGE & SERVICE EXPECTATIONS
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Club's wine, beer, spirits, cocktail, and non-alcoholic beverage offerings.
- Demonstrate expertise in classic cocktails, contemporary cocktails, wine varietals, beer styles, premium spirits, and specialty beverage programs.
- Prepare beverages consistently according to established recipes, presentation standards, and service specifications.
- Provide knowledgeable and thoughtful beverage recommendations based on Member preferences, dining selections, and special requests.
- Develop familiarity with wine regions, tasting profiles, food pairings, and vintage selections offered by the Club.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, presentation, and service of wines, spirits, and other beverages.
- Remain informed regarding seasonal offerings, featured wines, specialty cocktails, and beverage promotions.
- Demonstrate responsible alcohol service practices and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and Club policies.
- Participate in beverage education programs, tastings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Continuously expand beverage knowledge to support Hideaway Golf Club's commitment to delivering an exceptional private club experience.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous bartending experience required; private club, luxury hospitality, resort, or fine dining experience preferred.
- Current Riverside County Food Handler Card.
- General competency with point-of-sale systems; Clubessential experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, cocktail preparation, wine service, and responsible alcohol service practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with Members, Guests, and Team Members.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to remain standing and walking for extended periods, up to 8 hours or more.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, twist, and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and rain.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Maintain a polished and professional appearance in accordance with Club grooming and uniform standards.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Hospitality, food safety, or service-related certifications are beneficial.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional Member service and maintaining luxury hospitality standards.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Standing and walking continuously throughout the shift while preparing beverages and providing service to Members and Guests.
- Using hands and fingers continuously to prepare cocktails, pour beverages, garnish drinks, handle glassware, operate point-of-sale equipment, and process Member transactions.
- Reaching, bending, stooping, and stretching to retrieve liquor bottles, glassware, mixers, garnishes, ice, and bar supplies from shelves, coolers, and storage areas.
- Lifting, carrying, and transporting cases of beer, wine, liquor, beverage supplies, ice buckets, glass racks, and service equipment weighing up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Maintaining a clean and organized bar area, including stocking products, replenishing supplies, polishing glassware, cleaning equipment, and sanitizing work surfaces.
- Communicating with Members, Guests, Servers, Managers, and culinary staff to coordinate service, fulfill beverage orders, and ensure Member satisfaction.
- Reading menus, wine lists, beverage menus, point-of-sale screens, reservation information, and event orders requiring close and distance vision.
- Identifying beverage products, garnishes, labels, inventory items, and service needs requiring color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Working indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, wind, and other weather conditions associated with Club operations and special events.
- Maintaining awareness of bar operations, Member needs, beverage orders, inventory levels, and service flow while performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Tasting and evaluating beverage quality, freshness, and presentation standards as necessary to ensure consistency and service excellence.
