REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF EVENTS
POSITION SUMMARY
The Banquet Bartender delivers exceptional beverage service during Club functions, weddings, tournaments, Member events, private parties, holiday celebrations, receptions, and other special events at Hideaway Golf Club. This full-time seasonal position creates a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for Members and Guests while maintaining the highest standards of beverage preparation, presentation, professionalism, cleanliness, and responsible alcohol service.
The Banquet Bartender participates in all aspects of event beverage service, including reviewing event requirements, setting up and stocking bars and beverage stations, preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintaining bar areas throughout events, monitoring beverage supplies, and completing post-event breakdown. The position requires detailed knowledge of wines, spirits, beer, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as the ability to adapt service to different event formats, locations, timelines, and beverage offerings.
Banquet Bartenders work closely with Banquet Servers, Bussers, Culinary Team Members, Event Team Members, and Food & Beverage leadership to ensure beverage service is properly coordinated with the overall event experience. Banquet Bartenders are expected to demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, a strong sense of urgency, sound judgment, and genuine hospitality while maintaining the refined service standards associated with a premier private club environment.
While primarily assigned to Banquet and Special Event operations, Banquet Bartenders may periodically be assigned to assist restaurant bars and other Food & Beverage operations based on Club business and operational needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide exceptional beverage service and hospitality to Members, Guests, and event attendees at all times.
- Support the Banquet and Events Team in the execution of Club functions, weddings, tournaments, Member events, private parties, holiday celebrations, receptions, and other special events.
- Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), function sheets, event timelines, beverage selections, hosted or cash bar requirements, special requests, and service instructions prior to assigned events.
- Participate in pre-event meetings and service briefings to understand event details, assignments, timing, beverage offerings, and service expectations.
- Set up and break down bars, portable bars, beverage stations, wine stations, and other event beverage service areas.
- Ensure assigned bars and beverage stations are properly arranged, fully stocked, clean, organized, and presentation-ready prior to Member and Guest arrival.
- Stock and maintain an adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, juices, non-alcoholic beverages, ice, garnishes, glassware, napkins, straws, bar tools, and other required service items.
- Wash, slice, pit, and prepare fruit garnishes and other beverage accompaniments.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes, event specifications, and Club presentation standards.
- Provide wine, beer, cocktail, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverage service appropriate to each event.
- Take beverage orders and efficiently serve multiple Members and Guests while maintaining accuracy, presentation, and service quality.
- Make thoughtful beverage recommendations based on Member and Guest preferences, event offerings, dining selections, and special requests.
- Anticipate Member and Guest beverage needs and provide attentive, personalized service without unnecessary prompting.
- Carry and serve beverages safely and professionally using proper tray service techniques when required.
- Open, present, pour, and serve wine in accordance with established wine service standards.
- Maintain awareness of event timing and coordinate beverage service with food service and other event activities.
- Monitor assigned bar areas continuously to ensure timely service and appropriate inventory levels.
- Replenish liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware, and other supplies throughout events.
- Maintain clean, organized, sanitary, and professional bar and beverage service areas throughout each event.
- Remove empty bottles, used glassware, trash, and other service items promptly while maintaining a polished bar presentation.
- Accurately record or enter beverage transactions and Member charges into the Clubessential POS system when required by the event.
- Follow established procedures for hosted bars, Member charges, and other event beverage arrangements.
- Monitor alcohol consumption and exercise sound judgment regarding responsible alcohol service.
- Verify age when required and refuse or discontinue alcohol service when appropriate in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Club policies.
- Immediately communicate concerns regarding alcohol service, Member or Guest behavior, safety, or other service issues to appropriate leadership.
- Work collaboratively with Banquet Servers, Bussers, Culinary Team Members, Event Team Members, and Food & Beverage leadership to ensure seamless event execution.
- Assist with event setup and breakdown beyond the immediate bar area as operational needs require.
- Assist with post-event breakdown, including cleaning and organizing bar areas, collecting and sorting glassware and beverage supplies, properly storing beverage products, and returning equipment and supplies to designated areas.
- Assist with inventory, product counts, and beverage reconciliation as directed.
- Safely transport cases of wine, beer, liquor, mixers, ice, glassware, bar equipment, and other beverage supplies.
- Complete assigned opening, event, side work, and closing duties.
- Follow all Riverside County food safety requirements and responsible alcohol service requirements.
- Support a safe working environment and immediately report unsafe conditions.
- Report to work as scheduled, in proper uniform, and prepared to perform assigned duties.
- Follow all Club policies, procedures, event specifications, and service standards.
- Communicate effectively with management and fellow Team Members to ensure exceptional Member and Guest experiences.
- Demonstrate flexibility regarding event assignments, bar locations, schedules, service formats, and changing operational needs.
- Participate in ongoing beverage education, training, and professional development programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
RESTAURANT & FOOD & BEVERAGE SUPPORT
Banquet Bartenders are primarily assigned to Club functions, banquets, weddings, tournaments, private events, and other special events. Based on business levels and operational needs, Banquet Bartenders may periodically be assigned to support restaurant bars or other Food & Beverage operations.
When assigned to restaurant operations, Banquet Bartenders may:
- Set up, stock, maintain, and break down restaurant bar areas according to established Club standards.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and service standards.
- Take beverage orders from Members, Guests, and service Team Members and provide timely and accurate service.
- Enter beverage orders accurately into the Clubessential POS system and properly process Member account charges.
- Maintain knowledge of restaurant beverage menus, featured wines, seasonal cocktails, specialty offerings, and promotions.
- Make appropriate beverage recommendations based on Member preferences and dining selections.
- Assist Servers and other Food & Beverage Team Members with beverage service as needed.
- Maintain restaurant bar areas in a clean, organized, sanitary, properly stocked, and presentation-ready condition.
- Complete assigned opening, side work, inventory, and closing duties.
- Maintain the same standards of responsible alcohol service, Member service, professionalism, attentiveness, and hospitality expected during banquet and special event assignments.
- Remain flexible in assigned duties and service areas based on the overall needs of the Food & Beverage operation.

BEVERAGE KNOWLEDGE & SERVICE EXPECTATIONS
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Club's wine, beer, spirits, cocktail, and non-alcoholic beverage offerings.
- Become familiar with event-specific wines, spirits, cocktails, beer, and non-alcoholic beverage selections prior to each function.
- Demonstrate expertise in classic cocktails, contemporary cocktails, wine varietals, beer styles, premium spirits, and specialty beverage programs.
- Prepare beverages consistently according to established recipes, measurements, presentation standards, and service specifications.
- Provide knowledgeable and thoughtful beverage recommendations based on Member and Guest preferences, dining selections, event offerings, and special requests.
- Develop familiarity with wine varietals, regions, tasting profiles, food pairings, and vintage selections offered by the Club.
