Reports to: Farmhouse Front of House Managers

Position Summary

The Bartender position is responsible for ensuring the smooth, effective, and hospitable operation of the Farmhouse bar. Primarily this entails attending to bar customers, crafting drinks, filling orders, and doing all that is necessary to satisfy guests and create a clean, friendly bar environment. A high attention to detail is necessary as is a person who can engage with customers easily while also representing Farmhouse products and services well.

Compensation: $5.50 / hr + Tips

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greets guests immediately, makes suggestions and answers questions regarding food, beverages and service.
  • Practices salesmanship to enhance the dining experience without allowing guests to over order.
  • Uses guests’ names regularly throughout the dining experience.
  • Takes and records food and beverage orders from guests according to Sequence of Service and Pivot Point procedures.
  • Processes guests’ orders, using the POS System according to Sequence of Service, Pivot Point and Food Timing procedures to ensure all items are prepared and served on a timely basis.
  • Ensures all items are entered in the POS System correctly.
  • Ensures that all food and beverages delivered and served are served promptly, garnished correctly and meet the quality and presentation standards.
  • Prepares beverages by strictly following recipes and measures.
  • Assist other Servers with clearing tables and running food and drinks.
  • Removes dishes, silverware, glassware and all other items when guests are finished using them.
  • Replaces items as needed for next course.
  • Returns dirty dishware, glassware, utensils and linen to the designated area, sorts items accordingly, placing them in prescribed area for proper disposition.
  • Resets vacated tables and Bar Top with urgency according to the procedures.
  • Maintain a clean area, including floors, windows and surface areas.
  • Closely observe guests to ensure that they are satisfied with food, beverages and service: immediately recognize and respond to any guest’s needs and/or requests.
  • Attend regularly scheduled training sessions to increase awareness of Food, Wine, Beer and Spirits. Use this knowledge while interacting with guests to enhance their dining experience and increase sales.
  • Maintains tables and stations according to standards and procedures throughout the dining experience.
  • Completes all side work in the front and/or back of the house as assigned and scheduled by the members of the management team.
Position Requirements
  • Maintain organized and clean work environment.
  • Strictly follows policies, procedures and cleanliness standards.
  • Maintain standards of beverage quality by strictly following predetermined measures and recipes.
  • Responsible for overall cleanliness of the Bar.
  • Assist in developing cocktail features and menus.
  • Maintains par levels according to established guidelines.
  • Must always make guest satisfaction a priority within the guidelines of the Farmhouse.
Requirements
  • Hold or Obtain proper certifications, including SERV Safe Food Handler, Alcohol SERV Safe, and a liquor permit.
  • Demonstrate ability to closely follow established procedures, and skills to effectively communicate to Farmhouse staff and Management.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a full-service Bar and/or demonstrate ability to master requirements necessary to this position.
  • Possess current certifications and licensing according to Indiana requirements.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs.
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings and holidays
