Job Description

The Bartender at Hyatt House Evanston plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional service by preparing and serving beverages in a welcoming environment. This position requires a commitment to guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and promoting sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work rotating shifts, including weekends, nights, and overtime as needed.
• Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, and other beverages according to standards.
• Take guest orders, provide recommendations, and upsell products.
• Maintain menu knowledge and assist guests with food and drink suggestions.
• Set up and maintain cleanliness of the bar area.
• Accurately enter orders into the MICROS system.
• Handle cash and manage inventory.
• Engage with guests to ensure satisfaction and resolve concerns.
• Complete side work and adhere to uniform standards.
• Ensure safety and security policies are followed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Stand and walk for extended periods; perform physical tasks as needed.
• Use computer systems and perform calculations as required.
• Work well under pressure, multitask, and organize effectively.
• Maintain an outgoing personality with a passion for customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Previous customer service or hotel experience; Hyatt experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills.
• BASSET certification preferred.
• Food handler certification preferred.
• Proficiency in Micros or similar systems.
