Job Overview

Legends Global is hiring Bartenders for the Del Mar Fairgrounds & Racetrack for the upcoming 2026 San Diego County Fair and Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Summer Live Meet horse racing season. The position is seasonal, requiring night and weekend shifts.

Compensation: $16.90 per hour.

Minimum age: 21 years. RBS Certificate required. High School Diploma preferred. 2 years experience preferred but entry‑level welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and present beverage menus.
• Recommend and answer inquiries about beverages.
• Verify customers' identification to confirm legal drinking age.
• Take orders from customers or serving staff and record accurate drink orders into the register system.
• Prepare alcoholic and non‑alcoholic drinks according to standard recipes.
• Peel, slice, and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
• Mixer and garnish cocktails according to standard specifications.
• Serve snacks to bar‑seated customers.
• Upsell drink and snack items.
• Respond promptly to customer requests in a polite and professional manner.
• Limit issues related to excessive drinking by following established procedures.
• Process transactions using the POS system and prepare checks for customers.
• Arrange glasses and bottles into attractive displays.
• Maintain cleanliness of glasses, bar equipment, and work areas, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
• Balance the cash register at the start and close of each shift.
• Monitor inventory, order, and restock bar inventory as needed.

Qualifications

• RBS Certificate.
• High School Diploma preferred; 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Work knowledge of standard drink recipes.
• Knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, alcohol classes, glassware, brand names, and garnishments.
• Experience with bar equipment and mixology is an advantage.
• Numeracy and cash‑handling skills.
• Ability to work flexible, night, and weekend schedules.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and reach or bend frequently.
• Computer skills and familiarity with POS systems (especially Clover).

Physical Demands

Allocate to movements around facility, standing for long hours during events, talking, hearing, and working inside or outside the building as necessary.
