Job description

WE ARE

The Chatham Inn, Cape Cod’s only Relais & Châteaux and Forbes Five‑Star hotel, is a luxurious boutique hotel with 18 guest rooms that blends the soul of a historic inn with modern decor and amenities, along with Cuvee, our fine dining restaurant and wine bar. Named as one of the Top 20 Hotels for Best Service in the United States and Top 20 Most Romantic Hotels in the United States, Chatham Inn Relais & Châteaux has been rated the #1 Hotel in Chatham, #1 on Cape Cod, Top 50 Hotels in the United States, one of the Top 1% of all Hotels in the World, and one of only 340 Forbes Five‑Star hotels in the world.

Cuvée Bistro at The Chatham Inn is evolving into a relaxed, approachable coastal bistro with Mediterranean and French influences. We are moving away from a traditional fine‑dining model toward something more vibrant, welcoming, and community‑driven—while maintaining the polish and standards expected of a Relais & Châteaux and Forbes‑recognized property.

Hiring Bonus Available: $500 paid out in three installments—$200 at 30 days of employment; $150 at 60 days; and $150 at 90 days. Please note: This hiring bonus is subject to all withholdings and deductions as required by law.

A day in the life…

The Bartender is a key position within the front‑of‑house team. This individual shapes the tone, creativity, and consistency of the Cuvée Bar program while delivering warm, refined, and approachable hospitality. This is not a transactional bartending role. The ideal candidate brings elevated mixology experience, prior success in upscale restaurant environments, and the ability to mentor a team while executing at a high level during peak season.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execution of the Cuvée cocktail program with consistency and precision
  • Develop seasonal cocktail features aligned with coastal and Mediterranean influences
  • Ensure alignment between the bar program and the wine‑forward identity of Cuvée Bistro
  • Maintain recipe standards, costing awareness, and product integrity
  • Support menu evolution in collaboration with leadership
Mixology & Craft
  • Execute classic and contemporary cocktails with technical excellence
  • Utilize fresh ingredients, house‑made syrups, and thoughtful garnishes
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of: Classic cocktail families; Modern mixology techniques; Spirits and liqueurs; Wine fundamentals and pairings
  • Deliver champagne and wine service confidently
Guest Experience & Hospitality
  • Create an inviting, energetic yet refined bar atmosphere
  • Engage guests in confident, conversational service
  • Educate guests on beverage selections without being intimidating
  • Build relationships with repeat local and hotel guests
  • Set the tone for “quality without formality”
Operational Excellence
  • Oversee bar organization, prep, and cleanliness
  • Assist with inventory control and ordering
  • Ensure compliance with all alcohol service regulations
  • Maintain high Forbes‑level presentation standards

Please note: We do not sponsor or employ individuals for this position who are employed under another location’s H‑2B visa program. This role is not eligible as a second job for individuals currently employed under an H‑2B visa elsewhere, as such employment would not be authorized under federal visa regulations.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in upscale, wine‑focused, or boutique restaurant environments
  • Strong mixology foundation and wine knowledge
  • Experience working within a cohesive restaurant concept (not nightclub‑focused)

Ability to perform under seasonal peak demand. Wine certification (WSET / CMS Intro) or formal mixology training is highly valued.
