Job summary

Grace Church is seeking a friendly Barista to welcome customers and prepare hot or cold beverages following provided recipes. You may open or close the shop and work solo or with volunteers, ensuring accuracy and quality while delivering great service.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and flexible availability; candidates must be at least 18 and ready to work Sundays, with a willingness to learn the POS system and uphold health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must have at least basic communication skills and attention to detail.
• Barista experience appreciated but not required.
• Flexible availability including Sundays.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Open/close the shop.
• Greet customers, take orders and payments, and make drinks.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, seating areas, and equipment/tools.
• Describe menu items and suggest products to customers.
• Prepare beverages following recipes and maintain cleanliness of bar area.
• Check brewing equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Comply with health and safety regulations.
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and suggest new items.
• Handle pastries, sandwiches and other food items.
• Follow opening/closing checklists.

Reports to: Director of Global Grounds | Global Grounds Coffee

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt | Part-time;Hourly

Availability Needed:

We are open from 9am-2pm, looking for someone available 1-3 shifts per week, with Sunday availability.

Position Purpose

The Barista warmly welcomes customers to their establishment. They create and serve hot or cold beverages, often tailored to the customers needs, with good attention to detail and great communication. As shift leader, the barista will often be responsible for opening/closing the coffee shop and working solo or managing any volunteers working alongside. We also value every member of our team committing to Grace Church as their church home and striving to reflect Jesus in everything they do.

Main Responsibilities

• Opening/Closing the shop
• Greeting and taking customer orders and payments, and making drinks
• Clean and sanitize their work areas, seating areas and equipment/tools

Essential Duties

• Describing menu items and suggesting products to customers
• Servicing customers and taking orders
• Prepare beverages following recipes
• Keep the bar area clean
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and reports any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
• Handle/serve pastries, sandwiches and other food items
• Follow checklist of opening/closing responsibilities
