Gratz College seeks a friendly Barista to deliver welcoming café service in Gratz Commonspace. You will prepare coffee and beverages, handle orders and payments, and maintain a clean, inviting environment for students and community members.
This part-time, schedule-flexible position supports cafe hours and special events, with training on operations, espresso equipment, and kosher procedures. ServSafe Manager certification is part of employment requirements.
As part of Gratz College's mission to advance Jewish wisdom and serve diverse communities, Gratz Commonspace serves as a vibrant, inclusive "third space" that bridges home and work and is open to all who seek dialogue, creativity, culture, and connection. Offering a combination of academic and cultural programs, a welcoming café for informal gathering, and flexible event spaces, Gratz Commonspace is a community hub for Lower Merion, the Greater Philadelphia area and beyond.
The Barista will be responsible for providing welcoming, efficient, and high-quality café service while maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting environment. This is a great opportunity for a college student who enjoys working with people and wants a flexible part-time position in a community-focused environment.
The Barista will work independently during café service hours and will report to the Campus Operations Director/Café Manager.
The café will generally be open Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-2:30 PM.
Baristas will typically work an 8:00 AM-3:00 PM (7 hour) shift, which includes opening preparation, café service, and closing/cleaning responsibilities.
Because this is a student-friendly position, schedules will be created with consideration for class and academic commitments. Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be available for special events.
