Job summary

WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. seeks a café associate to oversee daily cafe operations, including payment handling, beverage preparation, service, and sanitation, ensuring safety and a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities include inventory, ordering, cash handling, labeling, and daily maintenance of food items. This is a 24-hour weekly, non-exempt on-site role in Wheeling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent
• Six months of café/food service or barista experience
• Current Food Handlers card or obtain within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages using espresso machines, grinders and coffeemakers
• Ensure sanitation, safety and quality guidelines per departmental policies and health department
• Take inventory, place and retrieve orders, and organize stock
• Operate cash register and balance cash at end of shift
• Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, equipment and service spaces
• Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, and hot holding equipment
• Describe and promote menu items to customers
• Serve and prepare hot and cold items
• Restock and label food items daily
• Sweep and mop floors and manage waste disposal
• Create signage daily as directed
• Lock cafe and secure cash bag at end of meal service
