Job summary

HM alpha Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Barista/ Coffee Shop Attendant at Hyatt Westlake Village, CA. You will greet guests, prepare specialty coffee drinks, and assist with gift-shop merchandising to maintain a welcoming atmosphere and drive sales.

This parttime role requires 3–6 months café experience, cash handling, and POS familiarity, with a focus on cleanliness and presentation. The position offers benefits and growth opportunities within the Food & Beverage team.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and provide information about available food, beverages, merchandise, and hotel amenities.
• Prepare specialty coffee drinks following established recipes and operate equipment safely.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the coffee shop per SOPs.
• Restock merchandise and displays to maintain inviting presentation.
• Open and close the coffee shop following procedures.
• Process sales through Micros system with accurate cash handling.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with restocking needs.
• Secure cash and deposits per policies.
• Comply with company policies and service standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Job description

The Barista / Coffee Shop Attendant enhances the guest experience by preparing and serving specialty coffee drinks, offering exceptional customer service, and promoting merchandise in the gift shop. This role plays a key part in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, driving sales, and upholding operational standards.

HOW YOU’LL SHAPE THE EXPERIENCE & FUTURE

• Greet guests and provide information about available food, beverages, merchandise, and hotel amenities.
• Prepare specialty coffee drinks following established recipes and operate coffee shop equipment safely and correctly.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the coffee shop, including equipment, displays, and floors, according to SOPs.
• Restock and refresh merchandise and food displays to ensure an inviting presentation.
• Open and close the coffee shop on time, following proper setup and closing procedures.
• Process all sales through the Micros system, ensuring accurate cash handling and adherence to accounting procedures.
• Monitor inventory levels, communicate restocking needs, and assist management with ordering.
• Secure all cash and deposits per hotel and company policies.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and service standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
• Other duties as asssigned.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• 3–6 months of related café or barista experience preferred.
• Retail and/or customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with cash handling and point-of-sale systems a plus.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
