Job summary

SSP America is hiring Baristas to work at our Java Kiosk located inside the Eastern Iowa Airport. You will greet guests, take orders, process payments, and prepare a variety of drinks and foods while following recipes and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has six months of food service experience, proficient English, and cash handling ability. This on-site position offers set schedules, benefits, and advancement opportunities, with immediate hiring.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience in a food service environment.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English to take orders.
• Basic math for cash handling and making change.
• Food handlers permit as required by law.
• Brand certification as required.
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

Here are a few things you can expect when you join our team as a Barista:

• Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Process orders and enter them accurately into the POS system.
• Receive payment from the customer and process change.
• Serve cold, frozen, and hot drinks as well as a wide variety of food items to guests.
• Follow all recipes and practice portion control to prepare, garnish, and present ordered items.
• Complete opening, on-going, and closing checklists as required.
• Perform general and specific cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position has:

• Six months experience working in food service environment
• High school diploma preferred.
• Verbal and written communication
• Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders.
• Experience in dealing with problems involving customer service.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, etc.
• Food handlers permit as required by law.
• Brand Certification as required.
• Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.
• Ability to operate a keyboard & point of sale procedures to pre-check an order & close out a check.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long period of time
