Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System is seeking a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Coordinator to lead program development, accreditation submissions, and patient education across care teams. You will work with surgeons, staff, and leadership to ensure high-quality bariatric services.

The role requires RN licensure, a BSN or health-related degree, and experience in bariatric care or patient education, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• BSN or Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and current Ohio RN License.
• Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Previous bariatric patient care experience or patient education background preferred.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for educating, motivating and responding to inquiries.
• Knowledge and use of evidence-based patient education and behavior change techniques.
• Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven leadership abilities and ability to work independently while coordinating patient care.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in computer systems and electronic health records for patient data input and retrieval.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care and act as liaison for surgeons, consultants, patients, and staff.
• Coordinate education for bariatric patient care teams.
• Develop and update patient education information and seminars.
• Organize monthly performance improvement committees and patient support groups.
• Ensure timely data submission for accreditation and quality improvement.
• Maintain and update department policies and website information.
• Assist with budget preparation and expense management.
• Collaborate with surgeons to grow program and coordinate care.
• Support marketing and community outreach for the bariatric program.
• Coordinate ongoing education and staff training.
