Henry Ford Health is seeking a Bariatric Dietitian/Nutritionist to provide specialized medical nutrition therapy for bariatric surgery patients. This role will evaluate treatment effectiveness and develop individualized nutrition plans across gastric bypass, sleeve, and lap-band procedures.

You will educate patients on dietary modifications, hydration, and supplementation to support long-term weight management.

Qualifications

• Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist (CDR) required prior to hire or transfer.
• Advanced Life Support preferred; BLS/ALS accepted by AHA/Red Cross.
• Experience in diabetes management education preferred.

Responsabilités

• Provides specialized medical nutrition therapy for bariatric surgery patients and evaluates treatment effectiveness throughout weight loss journey.
• Conducts pre- and post-operative nutrition assessments and identifies deficiencies or complications.
• Develops individualized bariatric nutrition plans for various surgical procedures (gastric bypass, sleeve, lap-band).
• Counsels bariatric patients on dietary modifications, portion control, eating behaviors, and lifestyle changes for long-term weight management.
• Monitors tolerance and effectiveness of regimens, identifying complications and adjusting therapy as needed.
• Collaborates with bariatric surgeons, nursing, behavioral health, and ancillary services for coordinated care.
• Educates patients and families on post-operative nutrition, supplements, and reintroduction phases.
• Performs community nutrition education and stays current with evidence-based bariatric practices.
• Assists in monitoring meal planning and sanitation standards in food service areas.
