Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL is seeking a Clinic Coordinator for Bariatric Surgery to support clinic activities, patient reception, scheduling, and HIM responsibilities. You will work a full-time shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with an FTE between 0.9 and 1.0, in a fast-paced surgical specialty setting.

Responsibilities include using EPIC for appointments, referrals, and releases of information, answering phones, and coordinating communication with the clinical staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Basic computer knowledge is required.
• Attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are expected.
• Sensitivity to patient information and confidentiality is required.
• Ability to use EPIC scheduling efficiently.
• Ability to sit for several hours and stay calm under pressure.
• Must be flexible and adapt to change.
• Employees must pass the EPIC scheduling test within 45 days of training.
• Ability to travel to offsite locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Handle a variety of office tasks including mail, faxes, filing, supplies, and clinic correspondence.
• Use EPIC to retrieve referrals, orders and documentation; assist with Release of Information requests.
• Maintain and retrieve medical records per HIM and office policy.
• Answer patient calls promptly and professionally; take clear messages for clinical staff.
• Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments as needed; provide reminders.
• Forward patients to pre-registration for insurance verification as appropriate.
• Prepare and send patient letters and EPIC-generated communications.
• Collaborate with the medical practice team to solve problems and support patient care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
