Qualifications

• Current North Carolina Barber License (or eligibility)
• Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience in classroom, lab, or salon settings
• Knowledge of state regulations, health and safety standards for barbering education
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills
• Organizational and time-management skills for lesson planning and records
• Commitment to student success, equity, and continuous improvement
• Proficiency with basic computer applications and instructional technology
• Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred; teaching experience beneficial

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach classroom and lab lessons in barbering
• Demonstrate hair cutting, shaving, styling, and grooming techniques
• Supervise students as they practice skills
• Evaluate student performance and maintain records
• Support licensure exam preparation for students
• Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols
• Collaborate on curriculum development and participate in meetings
• Engage in ongoing professional development
