Job summary

Columbus Technical College is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor in the Barbering Department to teach in all areas of barbering, including haircutting, skin, scalp, facials, and shaving techniques.

The role involves developing lesson plans, evaluating student progress, and ensuring safety in training areas across service delivery areas; May be required to teach high school students and travel between campuses.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• State of Georgia Master Barbering License.
• Completion of a program of preparation in the teaching field or discipline at an accredited postsecondary institution.
• Minimum of three (3) years recent in-field work experience as a Barber or Barber Instructor.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in all areas of barbering.
• Follow state standards in developing program and course outlines, goals and objectives.
• Evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
• Request and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment.
• Develop teaching methods and maintain management procedures and documentation.
• Meet with students, staff members and other educators to discuss instructional programs and issues.
• Ensure safety and security requirements are met in training areas.
• Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
• Maintain program certification requirements, as appropriate.
• Demonstrate strong time management and organization skills.
• Exhibit effective written and oral communication.
• Show keen observation, supervision and evaluation skills.
• General computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel).
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Display excellent work ethics and customer service skills.
