Job summary

Hammer & Nails Grooming Shop for Guys is hiring a Barber/Stylist to provide hair, beard grooming and shave services at our California shop. You will explain membership programs, maintain a clean workstation, and use professional tools while keeping them sharp and sanitary.

The role requires a valid barber license, at least one year of experience (Master Barber license or MB license preferred), and the ability to thrive in a dynamic shop setting.

Qualifications

• Full-time availability; working days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
• At least one year of professional barber experience; Master Barber required to have a minimum of five years or an MB license.
• Possess a current state barber license as required.
• Ability to work in a dynamic shop environment.
• Supply and maintain professional tools in working order and free of rust.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair grooming services for each client.
• Uphold sanitation and sterilization standards as directed by law and shop policies.
• Recommend future visits and retail products to clients.
• Ensure clients feel welcome upon arrival.
• Maintain shop appearance and cleanliness.
• Stock and maintain stations according to standard operating procedures.
• Promote and upsell products and services.
• Assist with washing and folding all linens used in the shop.
• Arrive prior to shift start with sufficient time to prepare for the day.
• Maintain and increase product knowledge by attending promotions, instruction, and training classes.
• Assist in all areas of shop operation as requested by management.

• Execute all mandated sanitation protocols and maintain a clean, sterile workstation.
• Use a variety of tools—scissors, clippers, straight razors, safety razors, and specialized hair‑coloring tools—while keeping them sharp and sanitary.
• Maintain focus on work and keep tools clean and safe.
