Job summary

Hammer & Nails Grooming Shop for Guys in California is seeking a barber/stylist to deliver hair, beard grooming, and shaving services. You will uphold strict sanitation, communicate the value of memberships, and maintain a clean workstation while coordinating with a licensed professional team.

Full-time availability with Tuesdays and Wednesdays workdays. You’ll supply and maintain tools, use electric clippers, scissors, straight/safety razors, and rely on provided Hattori Hanzo shears.

Qualifications

• Full-time availability; Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
• Must supply and maintain professional tools in working order and free of rust.
• At least one year of professional barber experience; Master Barber 5+ years or MB license.
• Excellent cleanliness and sanitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair grooming services for each client.
• Uphold sanitation and sterilization standards as directed by law and shop policies.
• Recommend future visits as well as retail.
• Ensure clients feel welcome when they arrive for their appointments.
• Maintain shop appearance and cleanliness.
• Stock and maintain stations according to SOPs.
• Promote and up-sell products and services.
• Assist in shop operations as requested by management.

• Barbers use a variety of tools, some of these implements are sharp, including scissors, clippers, straight razors, safety razors and specialized hair coloring tools.
• Staying focused on their work and keeping their tools clean and sanitary is of vital importance.
• Reports to: Owner, Shop Manager, or Assistant Manager.
• Option to enroll in 401(k).
• Applicants will not be required to rent their individual stations.
• Hattori Hanzo shears and thinning shears will be provided.

• They must hold and maintain a current state license as required.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a dynamic shop environment.
• Supply and maintain professional tools in working order and free of rust - Electric hair clippers, shears/scissors, and straight/safety razors.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and clients.
• Barber must have at least one year of professional experience, Master Barber should have a minimum of 5 years or an MB license.

Essential Functions Include

• Perform hair grooming services for each client.
• Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the shop’s policies and procedures.
• Recommend future visits as well as retail.
• Ensure clients feel welcome when they arrive for their appointments.
• Maintain shop appearance and cleanliness.
• Stock and maintain stations according to standard operating procedures.
• Promote and up-sell products and services.
• Ensure that a high standard of service is maintained throughout the shop.
• Assist with washing and folding of all linens used in the shop. Arrive prior to the start of the shift with enough time to prepare for the day.
• Maintain and increase knowledge of product lines by attending new product promotions, in-house instruction, and education/training classes.
• Assist in all areas of shop operation as requested by management.
