Job summary

Omni Dallas Hotel in downtown Dallas invites applications for a Barback position. You will support servers, assist bartenders, and ensure supplies are ready to deliver outstanding guest service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Qualifications include hands-on food and beverage knowledge, at least 1 year of bar experience in a large hotel, and the ability to communicate clearly in English. TABC and Food Handlers certificates are required on hire.

Qualifications

• Hands-on food and beverage knowledge required.
• Minimum 1 year of bar experience in a large convention hotel preferred.
• Ability to maintain a positive, professional demeanor.
• Clear verbal and written English communication with guests and staff.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays.
• Must hold a valid TABC and Food Handlers certificate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and refine service standards while following hotel standards and local laws.
• Ensure health, safety, and sanitation standards; prepare for health department inspections.
• Know a variety of alcoholic beverages and menu items.
• Perform banquet side work including cleaning bars, equipment, and areas.
• Turn dissatisfied guests into return guests through proactive service.
• Assist in controlling food and beverage quantities; avoid over/under preparing.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of banquet bar areas.
• Attend department trainings and meetings.
• Perform other duties as required by leadership.

Overview

The Barback is responsible for delivering excellence in guest service by supporting servers in providing personalized service, anticipating, and delivering guests' needs. The Barback comprehends the cocktail/beverage menus, anticipating the needs of the bartenders to ensure all products and supplies are present.

Responsibilities

• Consistent maintenance and refinement of service standards. Ensures compliance with all hotel standards and local laws.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation awareness standards. Prepare daily for health department and Ecosure inspections.
• Must have knowledge of a variety of alcoholic beverages, must retain and maintain complete knowledge of all food and beverage menu items.
• Perform all banquet side work as assigned by management including but not limited to the cleaning of bar and beverage equipment, cleaning of portable bars and back bars, walls, and carpets surrounding assigned work area.
• Ensure positive guest service and respond positively to complaints, taking all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.
• Assist in the controlling of food and beverage quantities by avoiding over/under preparing.
• Assist with set-up and breakdown of all the banquet bar areas.
• Attend all required department trainings and meetings.
• Perform any other duties required by leadership.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on food and beverage knowledge and a comprehensive, working knowledge of the hospitality business.
• A minimum of 1-year relevant bar experience in a large convention hotel is strongly preferred.
• Ability to always maintain a positive and professional demeanor and composure.
• Proven ability to engage guests at all levels. Must be passionate about providing warm, engaging, and personalized service.
• Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management, and co-workers.
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple priorities.
• Must have a valid TABC and Food Handlers certificate upon hire.
