Job summary

The Tess in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Barback to support bartenders with stocking beverages, ice, and glassware, while keeping the bar area clean and organized. The location is at 415 E Paces Ferry Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30305, USA.

You will work in a fast-paced hotel/bar setting, lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long shifts, and provide excellent guest service. Must be 18+ and able to read and speak English; availability includes weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Assist bartenders by stocking beverages and supplies.

The Barback assists bartenders by stocking beverages and supplies, replenishing ice, cleaning bar areas, washing glassware, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. This role helps ensure exceptional guest service by supporting smooth and efficient bar operations. Candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, lift up to 50 pounds, and provide excellent customer service.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
  • Knowledge of spirits, wine, and beer as well as other products offered.
  • Knowledge of standard bar equipment to include dishwasher, slicers, coolers, ice machine, etc.
  • Basic problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Availability to include weekdays, weekends, evening, and holidays.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of our guests.
  • Ability to work on a fun, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to speak and read the English language, additional languages a plus.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move quickly for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping to restock and organize supplies.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. (e.g., cases of liquor, kegs, boxes of supplies).
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to handle glassware, bottles, and bar equipment safely.
  • Ability to move efficiently in tight or crowded spaces behind the bar.
  • Tolerance for varying temperatures (e.g., near ice machines, coolers, or outdoor bars).
  • Ability to handle slippery surfaces and safely manage spills.

Work Hours

  • Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs
  • Scheduling includes holidays, nights, and weekends depending on hotel events and functions

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to:

Flexible and long hours sometimes required

Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff, vendors, and guests a normal in-person and phone conversation

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time

Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, and kneel
