Be a Star at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts!

The Barback is responsible for assisting Bartenders to provide efficient service to Center guests.

Located in downtown Tampa, the Straz offers flexible hours, event-based schedules including evenings and weekends, and a team-based work environment. Straz benefits for part-time staff include employee discounts and a 403(b) plan.

Essential Functions:

• Assists the Bartenders with providing excellent service to Center guests.
  • Ensures the Bartenders are adequately stocked with necessary supplies at the bars. Acts proactively to keep the bar stocked.
  • Ensures that all glasses, bowls, and other bar equipment are clean and stowed.
  • Maintains cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counter, sinks, utensils, shelves, and storage areas.
  • Assists with restocking and replenishing bar inventory and supplies.
• Presents a neat and professional appearance in correspondence with the uniform code.
• Reports any maintenance issues to the Manager on Duty.
• Able to be on feet for a minimum of 5 hours a shift.
• Ability to work in face paced environment.

Education and Work Experience:

• High School diploma required.
• Minimum of one-year experience as a busser, bar back, or server assistant.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Availability to work evenings and/or weekends, as needed.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to determine bartender's needs in advance.
• Basic knowledge of bar set up and vernacular.
