Job summary

JRDN Restaurant at Tower23 Hotel is seeking a barback to support bartenders, restock supplies, and maintain bar cleanliness on a flexible schedule in a premier oceanfront setting in San Diego. You will assist during peak times, answer guest questions about menu items, and uphold safety and sanitation standards.

Ideal candidates have a minimum of 6 months barback experience, strong communication, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated and works with a sense of urgency.
• Flexible availability – must be able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver superior customer service to all customers by acting with a “customer comes first” attitude.
• Restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, ice, and other bar supplies as needed.
• Assist bartenders with bar setup, breakdown, and preparation before, during, and after service.
• Wash, polish, and organize glassware, bar tools, and other service equipment.
• Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume.
• Ability to completely answer food related questions from guests.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, storage areas, refrigerators, and surrounding workspaces.
• Follow all applicable food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and responsible alcohol service policies.
• Maintains regular and punctual attendance.

Who We Are

JRDN Restaurant is Tower23 Hotel's 10,000 square foot award-winning contemporary oceanfront steak and seafood restaurant, featuring casually sophisticated cuisine for lunch + dinner daily, and weekend brunch. The restaurant entices guests with a California-fresh menu that can be experienced in the modern lounge or on the oceanfront terrace.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• At least six (6) months of previous barback experience required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Self-motivated and works with a sense of urgency
• Valid San Diego Food Handler’s Card and Responsible Beverage Server training (or the ability to get one right after hire with company support)
• Flexible availability - must be able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays

PAY RATE: $17.75 per hour + tips
