Barback

Responsible for assisting bartenders and keeping the bar area well stocked, clean, and organized.

Key Responsibilities

• Stock and replenish bar supplies including beverages, mixers, garnishes, and ice.
• Maintain a sufficient supply of clean glassware.
• Replenish napkins, straws, and other bar supplies.
• Clean surfaces, wipe spills, and maintain a tidy workspace.
• Empty trash bins and remove empty bottles and glasses from the bar top.
• Fetch and prepare ingredients for cocktails and other drinks as directed.
• Assist bartenders during peak hours to speed up service.
• Ensure bartenders have shakers, strainers, jiggers, and other tools.
• Wash and polish glassware and bar tools.
• Track inventory levels and notify supervisors when supplies need reordering.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures and bar setup.
• Provide customer service by promptly delivering orders and answering basic questions.
• Follow safety and hygiene practices and dispose of items safely.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy cases, moving furniture, and restocking high shelves.
• Collaborate closely with bartenders, servers, and other staff.

Specific Duties

• Greet all arriving, departing, or restroom‑seeking customers.
• Use respectful adjectives when referring to customers.
• Introduce yourself at the table with appropriate phrasing.
• Recommend appetizers, main courses, and desserts.
• Use the verb ‘would like’ instead of ‘want’.
• Repeat orders to confirm.
• Anticipate customer needs.
• Maintain tables clean and tidy at all times.
