Barback
Responsible for assisting bartenders and ensuring that the bar area is well-stocked, clean, and organized.
Responsibilities
- Stocking and Replenishing Supplies: Restock alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages, mixers, garnishes, ice, and other bar supplies; ensure sufficient clean glassware.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Wipe down surfaces, clean spills, empty trash bins, and keep the bar area tidy.
- Assisting Bartenders: Fetch ingredients, prepare cocktail components, and support bartenders during peak service.
- Restocking Bar Tools: Provide shakers, strainers, jiggers, and other tools; wash and polish glassware and bar tools.
- Maintaining Inventory: Track inventory levels and notify supervisors when supplies need reordering.
- Setting Up and Breaking Down: Assist with opening and closing procedures, set up the bar for service, and clean up after closing.
- Assisting Customers: Promptly deliver orders and answer basic questions about the bar’s offerings.
- Adhering to Safety and Hygiene Standards: Follow food safety and hygiene practices; dispose of glassware and other items safely.
- Lifting and Physical Labor: Lift heavy cases of alcohol or kegs and move furniture as needed.
- Teamwork: Collaborate closely with bartenders, servers, and other staff to ensure efficient operation.
English Qualifications
- Required: TIPS Alcohol Certified (or equivalent).
- Skills: Leadership, creativity, proactivity, mathematical ability, oral and written communication, effective communication.
- Values: Kindness, punctuality, responsibility, ethics, discretion, honesty, respect.
- Physical Capacity: Ability to stand, walk, and carry heavy items for extended periods; handle trays with food and drinks.
- Scheduling: Availability to work weekends and holidays.
- Experience: 1 to 2 years as a bartender in a related restaurant; 1 to 2 years as a barback in a Puerto Vallarta restaurant.

- Organizar, abastecer suministros para la operación total del bar.
- Lavar, secar y reabastecer estaciones de barra.
- Mantener limpieza en general de barra, pisos, utensilios y sumisitos.
- Preparar, elaborar y servir bebidas a los clientes y compañeros.
- Saludar a todos los clientes que llegan, se van o buscan el baño.
- Referirse a las personas con adjetivos de respeto y presentarse en la mesa con fraseología apropiada.
- Recomendar aperitivos, comidas y postres; usar el verbo “gustaría” en vez de “quiere”.
- Repetir la orden y anticipar necesidades.
- Mantener la mesa limpia y ordenada en todo momento.
- Servir alcohol con certificación TIPS.
- Disponibilidad para trabajar fines de semana y días festivos.
- Uniforme: pantalón de vestir negro, camisa negra, corbata (hombres), mascarilla (mujeres), mandil y zapatos negros antiderrapantes.
