Job summary

Arva in Village of Pelham, NY is seeking a Barback to maintain the bar environment, assist bartenders, ensure stock and cleanliness, and support guest service across courses.

Responsibilities

• Setup and breakdown of bar stations.

• Stock beer, wine, liquor, and beverages; stock bar with ice.
• Check supplies like sugar, napkins, stir sticks; requisition as needed.
• Sweep and mop bar/service areas and guest spaces.
• Anticipate guest needs and ensure guests don’t have to ask for anything.
• Provide warm farewell to guests and thank them for coming.
• All other responsibilities assigned by Management.
• Report unsafe conditions to management.

Job description

The Barback maintains all bar environment and equipment. The Barback is responsible for ensuring the bar area is clean, tidy, and fully stocked. The Barback focuses on assisting Bartenders to ensure they have everything they need to serve customers efficiently.

This position has an hourly rate of $16.50 + Tips.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Setup and breakdown of bar stations
• Replenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction
• Mark bar counter appropriately to food order for each course
• Maintain cleanliness of the bar area at all times, ensure bar area is well stocked with supplies and beverages including:
  • Straighten bar area continuously; restock bar with clean glasses
  • Clean counters, floors, shelves, and refrigerators; remove trash
  • Check coolers and shelves to ensure proper stocking of beer, wine, liquor,and all beverages; stock bar with ice as needed
  • Check for supplies such as sugar, salt, stir sticks, straws, napkins as perspecified inside work list
  • Requisition of additional supplies as needed
  • Cut fruit and garnishes; retrieve special garnishes from kitchen
• Sweeping and mopping in and around bar service areas and customer common areas.
• Verify each guest satisfaction during each course or beverage served
• Anticipate guest needs, as to where guests will never have to ask for anything
• Wish every guest a warm farewell and thank them for coming
• All other responsibilities assigned by Management

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Report all suspicious persons or activities and hazardous or unsafe conditions to the management
• Understand and follow the laws and guidelines for beverage service
• Provide excellent service at all times to all of our guests, assist guests courteously and efficiently
• Respond to all guest questions. Provide guest assistance, direction, and information as requested when working in public areas
• Assist Bar and Lobby Lounge cocktail server in lounge when necessary
• Attend all food and beverage training classes
• Following the posted opening and closing duties and side work sheet
• Attend daily pre meal/communication meeting
• Attend monthly department meeting
• Generate a good atmosphere
