Job summary

Bar Sprezzatura, located in the Heathman Hotel in Portland, seeks a Bar Manager to lead the bar operations, mentor the beverage team, and drive beverage sales while upholding Bar Sprezzatura’s high service standards.

You will develop the beverage program, manage inventory and costs, train staff, and ensure every cocktail and experience reflects the Mina Group standards and hospitality spirit.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a high-volume cocktail bar or fine dining with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Extensive knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, and beer.
• Experience managing beverage inventory and controlling beverage costs; experience training bartenders and bar staff.

About the Role:

As the Bar Manager at Bar Sprezzatura, you will be a hands-on leader responsible for all aspects of bar operations, beverage service, and team development. Working closely with the General Manager and restaurant leadership, you’ll lead the bar team, drive beverage sales, maintain exceptional service standards, and create an energetic and welcoming guest experience.

You will play a key role in developing the beverage program, managing inventory and costs, training and mentoring the team, and ensuring that every cocktail, aperitivo, and beverage experience reflects the spirit of Bar Sprezzatura and the standards of Mina Group.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a high-volume cocktail bar, upscale restaurant, hotel bar, or fine dining environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Extensive knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, spirits, wine, and beer
• Experience managing beverage inventory and controlling beverage costsExperience training and developing bartenders and bar staff
• Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service protocols
• Working knowledge of HR practices and labor laws
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with restaurant POS and inventory systems
• Ability to frequently lift up to 40 pounds
• Have the stamina to work in excess of 40 hours per week
• Beverage certification such as WSET, BarSmarts, or Level 1 Sommelier certification is a plus
• Spanish language skills are a plus
