Job summary

The Wiseguy Lounge in Lexington, KY is seeking an experienced bartender to deliver exceptional guest service while crafting cocktails and serving a curated bourbon selection. You will learn regulars’ names and orders, recommend pairings, and help maintain a fast-paced, sanitary bar environment.

Candidates should have bar-keeping or mixology training and at least one year of related experience, with availability for late nights and weekends. Apply to join a historic, high-end experience.

Qualifications

• High level of customer service for every guest including greeting/thanking guests and building rapport.
• Learn the names and orders of regulars and provide recommendations from our menu.
• Assist bartenders in preparing craft cocktails and serving a wide selection of bourbon.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization behind the bar, including washing glassware and restocking supplies.
• Ensure the bar is stocked and running smoothly in a high-volume environment.
• Prepare garnishes ahead of opening and display bottles neatly.
• Serve alcohol responsibly in compliance with state regulations.
• Refuse service to intoxicated or disruptive patrons when needed.
• Follow health, sanitation, and safety procedures and protocols.
• Open and close the bar, monitor guests and safety practices.
• Work late nights and weekends to ensure readiness for opening and closing.

Requirements

• Highest level of customer service for every guest including greeting/thanking guests, engagement with guests, and building rapport.
• Learn the names and orders of our regulars and provide recommendations to our walk-in guests through our craft cocktail and bourbon menu with recommendations.
• Assist bartenders in preparing craft cocktails and serving a wide selection of bourbon.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization behind the bar, including washing glassware and restocking supplies.
• Ensure the bar is stocked, organized, and running smoothly in a high-volume environment.
• Ensures that fruit and other garnishes are prepared ahead of the opening
• Attractively displays glasses and liquor bottles
• Serve alcohol responsibly in compliance with state regulations (must be of legal age to serve alcohol).
• Uses proper judgment and, when necessary, refuses service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive.
• Follow all health and sanitation practices, as well as all safety procedures and protocols.
• Ability to open, and close the store and monitor guests and safe practices.
• Work late nights and weekends, ensuring the bar is ready for opening and closing.

Qualifications:

• Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly and argumentative patrons.
• Ability to learn cash register software.
• Must comply with state laws regarding the legal service of alcohol.
• Weekend and late-night availability is required.

Physical Qualifications:

• Prolonged periods standing and preparing drinks.
• Must be able to lift to 50 pounds following proper techniques preventing injury.
• Must be legal drinking age or older.

Education and Experience:

• Completion of mixology, bar-keeping, or other related training preferred.
• Advanced bartending skills and abilities
• Minimum of one year related experience.
